Hi! Here we are one month later. (Wow!)
This afternoon, “Jack”/”Gizmo” (now officially “Esker”–or “Kirby” for fun; I wanted a name that aligned with Peninsula (aka Penny), and my family wanted something fun/-ie sound ending) had his first visit with his local vet. They were very impressed with his bravery and cooperation! (Yay! It was good to see a positive first visit.)
Otherwise, he’s generally doing well with training/fitting in at home. Of course, there are ups and downs, but I think he’s feeling quite secure through it all. Lots of walks, some daycare, first new friends at the dog park, first visit from grandma – we keep busy.
Fortunately, Penny and Kirby have some things in common; for example, they both absolutely LOVE the snow. Of course, this means we cover less ground on walks since they both stop to roll in it almost every few feet, but if they’re happy, so am I. Come to think of bit, however, it might be safer that they’re not too close just yet–a Westie and a Cairn combining their powers? Sounds fearsome!
By the way, he’s now very famous with my students as they ask for frequent updates (and have now been treated to occasional fun photos in our Google Classroom daily posts). He even was included with Peninsula in their Thanksgiving cards. So fun!
Thanks again for all you do!
Natalie
