I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Theo (C-1103) MI

I'm Available

8/30/2026. Theo moved up to Michigan to see if he could adjust better there. He is easily excited and reacts to activity going on, especially when people enter and leave the home, so he needs a home without a ton of traffic through the house. Theo also has separation anxiety and does not like being in a crate or out of sight of his peeps. He started taking Prozac to help with his anxiety and does seems to be a bit less reactive. He still really wants to be with you for everything! He's a little lover and will not just cover you in kisses, but crawl all over you to get close. He'd be happy to be held in your lap all day.

Theo gets so excited if he thinks you are going to take him outside for a walk or on a car ride. He loves to walk and keeps up a pretty good pace, but he is easily distracted and will run in various directions at times, so you need to have a good handle on him. He's nervous with strangers and will bark at them. He would do well with some more socialization so that he can learn how to meet people. He also needs to learn that riding in a car means he either needs to accept the crate or be able to be harnessed and buckled in which is restraining him and he doesn't care for that right now.

Theo is really smart and with the right training can pick up on things. He's already learned that the bell by the door gets our attention so he can go out. He picks up on routines and wants to please, but he's not food motivated which means it can take a bit more effort to train but repetition works. He does appear to be potty trained besides a few markings when just arriving, but he has the problem of leaking from excited/submissive reaction usually when welcoming you home or cowering when picked up to go somewhere he doesn't want.

We don't know exactly what breed Theo is, so he's listed as a mix, but he has a lot of traits and appearance of an Australian Terrier which is a breed derived from the Cairn and Silkie Terriers.

He's looking for a loving home that will give him lots of attention and include him in as much activity as possible, but whose home isn't very chaotic with people coming and going. He has lot of energy and would love to go on many walks or play in a fenced in area. If you think you might be the person to become Theo's new bestie or would like to learn more about him, put in your application today and let your matchmaker know. We know there is a perfect home out there waiting for a dog who wants to unconditionally smother them with love.

7/1/2026. Meet Theo who has some golden highlights on his face and paws and glistening silver fur on his torso. This sweet boy found himself in a South Carolina shelter after his owner went into assisted living. The shelter gave him all his vaccinations, neutered him, and made sure he was put into a wonderful rescue organization that would find him a good home. The next few weeks will be filled with many walks to teach him to potty outside, how to walk on leash, how to obey commands. Fortunately Theo is eager to please, and wants to be physically touching or near his peeps! And because he is so teachable, he will learn fast!
