12/28/25 Meet Spud!
Spud is a 16-month old Westie currently weighing 14 lbs 4 oz. He’s a playful, inquisitive young dog with lots of personality and a very sweet, snuggly side.
Spud has typical puppy energy and loves toys, fetch, tug, and wrestling with his foster sibling (a 5.5-year-old small dog he adores). He’s also a big fan of cozy spaces and enjoys making himself little “dens” in his crate or under furniture. Spud is fully potty trained, crate-trained, and is highly food-motivated, making him a great candidate for continued training.
Spud is cautious with unfamiliar adults and may initially bark or retreat, but warms up once people are calm and seated. Unfortunately, he cannot live with children. His foster home has confirmed that loud or active children of all ages make him very anxious and unhappy, so his forever home must be adult-only with no frequent child visitors.
Spud would love a home with another small, playful, snuggly dog. He cannot live with cats or small animals due to a high prey drive. He is curious about his foster home's aquariums, spending time watching the fish swim and occasionally trying to jump into the tank himself!
Spud has a chicken allergy and sensitive stomach, so a strict no-chicken diet is required. He eats enthusiastically so slow- or puzzle- feeders are a must. He has an excellent internal clock and will remind you if meals are late!
His ideal home includes a securely fenced yard, patient adopters who can continue leash and manners training, a small adult dog to play with and learn from, and preferably someone who works from home (or can provide mid-day care). In the right home, Spud will thrive and be a loving, loyal, and incredibly fun companion.
12/06/25 Spud is well-behaved, house-trained, enjoys his crate, and has energy levels expected of a 15-month old puppy. Please check back soon for a more detailed report on little Spud.
