3/20/2026. Seamus is a gentle, sensitive soul looking for a calm, understanding home where he can truly feel safe. After losing his original owner, Seamus came into foster care in May of last year. It’s been a slow and steady journey of building trust, and he’s made beautiful progress with patience and kindness.

Seamus is a quiet, low-key companion who thrives in peaceful environments. He can be a little shy at first—especially around men—and may have had some tough experiences in his past. But once he feels safe, his sweet nature really starts to shine. He greets you with excitement when you come home or even when you wake up, and those little moments are where his personality really melts your heart.

He can be sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, so he does best in a home that feels calm and predictable. Seamus is happiest at home, where he feels secure and relaxed. He is house-trained and does well going outside. He enjoys having a yard where he can roam, sniff, and explore at his own pace. He is not a fan of busy environments, car rides, or neighborhood walks. Seamus would do best in a home without young children, as their energy can overwhelm him. He’s come a long way with meeting new people and has started greeting both men and women with curiosity and excitement once they’re part of his routine. Seamus is a simple guy who loves quiet time wandering the yard and sniffing the grass and flowers and feeling safe in his space. He’s not much into toys or high-energy play—he’s more of a peaceful companion than a playful one.

Seamus is the kind of dog who forms a deep, meaningful bond with his person. He’s not for everyone—but for the right person, he’s everything. Watching him learn to trust, seeing those small wins, and being the one he feels safe with… that’s something really special.

1/22/26.  It took some time, but Seamus now greets foster dad with a wagging tail and excitement when he comes home.  He happily runs outside to meet him but he isn't interested in playing or chasing toys, Seamus is content to be near his person.

Because he is sensitive to sudden movements and distractions, Seamus is not well suited for a home with children. He is fully house trained and enjoys quietly following foster dad around the house and yard, often alongside the resident dog.

Seamus takes treats gently from your hand and is a true gentleman. Once he trusts you, he allows handling such as being picked up, brushed and having his eyes cleaned.  His ideal home would be a calm person who appreciates a quieter companion.  Seamus is a homebody who thrives on companionship rather than activity.

Please join us in welcoming in this little senior brindle Cairn boy we are calling Seamus. Seamus’ owner passed and no one in the family could take him, so he came over to Cairns & Cousins. Seamus is 10 years old, and although a bit shy, he seems to be healthy.
Please check back here soon for more updates on lovely Seamus from his foster dad.
