I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Sallie Mae (C-1029) PA

I'm Available

UPDATE: SALLIE MAE'S ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN GENEROUSLY PAID BY ONE OF OUR ADOPTIVE HOME!

2/15/2026. Sallie Mae needs her forever home. She has adjusted quite well in her foster home, but she wishes Foster Mom wasn’t so busy with work and other projects. Sallie Mae has been a little nervous with some basic grooming, but today, when mom got out the grooming table to groom the resident Cairn, she was happy to be up on the table having a good brush. She even let mom remove “eye boogers” without fuss. We haven’t attempted nail trims yet, since she isn’t keen on having her paws handled, but that’s next. She’s a pretty little healthy girl - mom thinks she looks part Maltese, but who knows? And since she is so cute, her breed mix seems irrelevant. She will take some time to settle in and warm up to people, but has come a long way from the shy, anxious, somewhat reactive dog that arrived nearly 3 months ago. Will you consider providing this little queen with the forever home she deserves?

2/1/2026. Sallie Mae here…. just want you to know I’ve been waiting patiently for my special hooman to scoop me up and love on me. Mom tells me my adoption fee has already been paid by a generous donor, so now is your chance to welcome a new cuddle bug. Mom is happy that I’ve been courageous enough to go outside to potty in the crazy cold weather. I’ve even taught my foster sister to use the training pad when it’s just too cold to go out. How’s that for consistency? Please consider giving me a chance to melt your heart. I’ve been such a good girl. I’m happy to hop inside my crate when Mom has to go to work (upon payment of the treat tax). I know when she gets back and start to tell her how happy I am to see her even before she opens the door. Once she opens the crate, I do my happy dance on the way outside to potty. Why not have some of that joy in your house?

12/24/25. Sallie Mae wore her Steelers sweater to the bar a couple of weeks ago, and she was a hit! She spent her time on different laps, and never flinched when loud cheers or groans from fans punctuated the broadcast of the game. I have finally heard her dainty little bark…she’s not really much of a barker at all. Just when I come home from work and she doesn’t think I’m fast enough to open her crate.

11/25/2026. Welcome to this little bundle of joy….. Sallie Mae has adjusted well to post-shelter life, and has claimed her preferred spot -on my lap whenever possible! On these cold days in western PA, it’s like having a living, breathing hot water bottle that never loses its heat.
She is a happy, somewhat quirky girl….she is crate trained in case I need to leave her at home for any length of time. Potty training is still a work in progress, but she does go outside to do her business, and has finally settled on a training pad inside the kitchen door between trips outside.
Sallie Mae walks nicely on a leash and seems to like everybody, though probably not the best around little children. I think her ideal home will be one where she has the opportunity to have frequent trips outside on the leash, so as to reinforce good potty behavior, more than what I have time for right now.

Please consider giving this little sprite her furever home.
