5/25/2026. Danny Boy is a 3 year old Cairn Terrier mix who is looking for the right home. He is being fostered in Louisiana. He is affectionate and loving when given time to get to know you. He loves toys and he likes to take a toy with him when he goes outside to the bathroom. Like many dogs who may be fearful or protective, Danny Boy does have a bite history and will need an experienced, patient adopter who understands canine body language and management. He is not the type of dog who will do well with everyone immediately, and introductions to new people and situations should be handled carefully and slowly. Despite this, Danny Boy is not a “bad” dog, he is a dog who needs the right environment and someone committed to helping him feel safe and secure. In the right home, with structure, consistency, and understanding, he can be an incredibly rewarding companion. Because of his needs, he is looking for an adult-only home with someone experienced in handling dogs with behavioral challenges. Ongoing training and management will be important for his success.

2/25/2026. Danny Boy is finally ready to find his forever home! He has been so patient while going through heartworm treatment, and now it’s his turn to be someone’s special boy. He does need to lose a couple pounds but who doesn't? He insisted he get treats since he was so patient. Danny Boy can be a little cautious with new people and unfamiliar places at first, but once he gets to know you, he is incredibly sweet and loving. One of his cutest habits is carrying a stuffy outside with him when he goes potty, then proudly bringing it back inside when he’s finished. He doesn't have a new picture just yet but he's going to the groomer in a couple of weeks to get cleaned up and look spiffy for his new home. He will need a little time to adjust to a new home, but with patience and understanding, Danny Boy will blossom into a devoted companion. If you’re willing to give him the time he needs, he just may be the perfect dog for you.
