I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Ace (C-1031) NC

I'm Available

Say hello to Ace, a beautiful grey brindle boy who wants you to PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN and PLAY WITH HIM. Or at least pet him for a long, long time, and if you stop, you have less than 2 seconds before he is poking you to remind you to PET HIM SOME MORE. Ace does not like small children or other dogs. Currently, Ace seems delighted by everyone. Ace would be happiest as an only dog with no children to steal his spotlight, and a home with people who want to play with him. He is housebroken and also enjoys falling asleep on the couch while staring out the window. He will make a wonderful pet for the right person.

Update 11/09/2025:

Ace is a very beautiful Cairn terrier who is housebroken and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. He can be trusted to be out when left alone, and loves to play with his toys. There is no scrolling on your phone when you sit on the couch with him; he will poke you if you quit petting him for even 2 seconds, and he wants to be right there in your lap. He was delighted to meet our handyman, a dog lover, and gave him many kisses and insisted on pets. Ace eventually got so used to him coming and going through the front door he didn't even bother getting off the couch. He loves to go on walks, but you have to watch out for other dogs because Ace is not a fan. He is also not a fan of small children, though he loves adults and kids old enough to pay him the proper attention. If you have a pet and a child-free home, Ace might just be the man for you.

Update 11/26/25:   Sweet Ace is ready for his own family, someone who has some terrier experience and
knows what to expect from a strong-willed dog. He wants to be with his people, and loves meeting anyone his people introduce him to. He is affectionate, beautiful and loves to play. He is currently asleep on the back of the couch, but as soon as foster mom gets up from the computer he will be wide awake and ready for whatever comes next. Ace is a good boy!

Update 1/24/2026:

Last weekend a friend came over whose Dad had just died. Ace seemed to know she was sad and spent the afternoon in her lap, often upside down, getting petted and fussed over. He was very intuitive and seemed to know this was a time for cuddling and not playing, and I think he was a huge comfort to her.
Ace is smart and funny and talks more than any dog I have ever known. When we come home he is just delighted to see us and Arrooos and talks to let us know. He is affectionate and playful and loves his toys, but also loves a good nap. He is housebroken and non-destructive, we can leave him out when we aren't here and he is fine. During the long weekend we went out of town for the day and our neighbor let Ace out and fed him and said he was as sweet as he could be.
Ace needs a home with an experienced terrier owner who understands his stubborn ways, he is a joy and a great addition to the right home.
